Mumma Review

Located in the car park of Pirates Bay Blowhole at Eaglehawk Neck Doo-Lishus would have to been one of Tassie's best kept secrets.  Serving fresh, local fish and seafood Doo-Lishus is literally a caravan in a car park!

Approximately 50mins drive south-east of Hobart we headed down to Doo-Lishus with bubba and the in-laws for a day trip and in need of some tasty, fresh fish.  We were not disappointed.  We enjoyed crumbed trevally (I don't normally like trevally but this one was exceptionally tasty so I was happy), crumbed squid rings (super tasty) and deliciously crumbed scallop's (as well as a cone full of chips - so many in fact we couldn't finish it!).  Grandpa was tempted to try a venison or rabbit pie but instead also opted for a seafood lunch.

Our day couldn't be complete without dessert and we all opted for a sundae - I enjoyed the Berry Dream (variety of fresh berries with ice-cream and cream), grandpa had the berry-doo light (fresh berry puree with ice-cream and cream), and grandma enjoyed a chocolate sundae (hubby and bub opted for the healthy choice - no dessert!).  The desserts were delicious and for $5 each a complete bargain in our minds!

Seating consisted of a number of outdoor tables and chairs under the shade of umbrella's adjacent to the caravan as well as other spots at the nearby blowhole or beach if you fancy a picnic.  There are also public toilets adjacent to the blowhole and whilst there are no dedicated baby change facilities you can always improvise and use the back of the car like we did!

Nearby activities include the Pirates Bay Blowhole, which is great to see, and there is a short walk to the nearby Pirates Bay look-out with spectacular views over Pirates Bay and the Tasman Peninsula.  It was an easy walk up to the lookout and bubba enjoyed the view whilst being pushed about on his trike.  A great way to spend a summer's day in a location that wasn't far from home yet felt like we were a world away.  And the journey through Doo Town on the way to Doo-Lishus certainly brought a smile to my face.
